Competence Building Networks for Early Childhood Education for South and East Africa (CBN)
CBN consist of Early Childhood Teacher Training Institutions in Southern Africa and Norway (Queen Maud University College).

Professor Arve Gunnestad from Queen Maud University College created the network in 1999 after being involved with preschool teacher training in Zambia, Namibia and Swaziland.

Participating countries are: Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya and Norway.

Objectives of the Network

To collect, develop and spread knowledge and experiences on Early Childhood in order to establish a sound and relevant basis for Early Childhood Teacher Training in South and East Africa.

Activities

The CBN are involved in the following activities:
  • International Network meetings
  • National or local network meetings
  • Staff exchange from Norway to Africa, from Africa to Norway and between members in Africa
  • Student exchange
  • Research projects
  • Publication of reports from network meetings and research
