We want to assure you that the health, safety and welfare of our students and staff is our main priority. We are updating them on a regular basis.
The Norwegian government closed all educational institutions from 12th March. This means that QMUC has closed for all teaching from the same date. We do not expect to physically return to campus this semester. All lectures and teaching is to take place during the spring semester 2020.
Student exchange involving practical training cancelled for the autumn semester 2020
Queen Maud University College of Early Childhood Education (QMUC) has decided to cancel all student exchange involving practical training for the autumn semester 2020. This is by no means an easy decision, and there are many strong reasons for it. First and foremost it is a demanding situation with many unknowns. Secondly, for the sake of the students’ ability to plan and their financial obligations, it has been important to make a decision regarding students exchange by the beginning of May.
Nominated students and partner institutions will be contacted directly.
Rector Hans-Jørgen Leksen says in a statement: “It is very unfortunate that QMUC has to cancel student mobility in the upcoming semester. Student exchange is important for QMUC. We believe that the different perspectives and the interactions between local and international students improve that quality of our educational offer.
We hope to stay in close contact with our partners this autumn, maybe it is possible to have some interactions online? We will also use the autumn semester to improve the offer for incoming international students and look forward to receiving international students in the spring semester 2021 (if the conditions permit).”
Please note that all incoming and outgoing planned staff mobilities to and from QMUC are deferred for the time being.
With the uncertainty surrounding the outbreak of the coronavirus, we will keep partner institutions and nominated students informed if the continuation of the pandemic situation requires us to make changes to the program.
