DiCoTe: Increasing professional Digital Competence in Early Childhood Teacher Education with focus on enriching and supporting children’s play with coding toys

DiCoTe embodies digital skills without using screens and is led by Francesca Granone in collaboration with  Elin Reikerås, at the Institute for Early childhood education at the University of Stavanger. In the project, researchers and kindergarten teachers will use a type of coding game appropriate for children between the ages of 3 and 5.

Coding is a specific way of thinking and solving problems. To solve the problem, the children must discuss with others, cooperate, find solutions through mental or physical experiences.

The project is a collaboration between DMMH, NTNU, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, The University of Aalborg, Norwegian Centre for Mathematics Education and Vitenfabrikken in Sandnes. From DMMH, Anne Nakken and Oliver Thiel are participating. The project is financed by NFR. The project began in 2021.
