Courses for international students

Queen Maud University College of Early Childhood Education offers four different courses for international exchange students - two at bachelor's level and two at master's level.
A prerequisite for participating in the courses is that the student has an acceptable level of English as this is the language used in the modules.

Courses - bachelor's level

QMUC offers two courses at bachelor's level. Both courses provide experiences, insight and knowledge about everyday life in Norwegian early childhood education and care institutions.

Simultaneously, the students will be introduced to the Nordic view on play and learning, the Nordic view on children and childhood, the close relationship to nature and outdoor experiences, as well as children’s rights to participation.

The in-depth unit is both theoretical with lectures where the student is expected to take part in theoretical discussions, and practical with work outdoors, observations in kindergartens etc.
 

Norwegian Early Childhood Education and Care, Theory and Practice – 20 ECTS (NECEC2100_20 ECTS)

A Comparative, Theoretical and Practical Approach to Early Childhood Education and Care in Norway.

Teaching semester:
Autumn/spring (the course is offered every semester).
The course lasts for 13 weeks (3 months).

Outdoor Play and Learning in Norwegian Early Childhood Education – 30 ECTS (NECEC2100-2200_30 ECTS)

A Comparative, Theoretical and Practical Approach to Early Childhood Education and Care in Norway with in-depth study of Risky Play and Outdoor Learning.

Teaching semester:
Autumn/spring (the course is offered every semester).
The course lasts for a full semester. 

Tuition fees

Students from institutions with an exchange agreement with QMUC pay no tuition fees.

Students coming from institutions without an exchange agreement with QMUC, so-called free movers, pay a fee of NOK 10.000.  

Language

The two courses for international students offer a crash course in the Norwegian language.
 

Courses - master’s level:

QMUC offers two courses at master's level, both within child culture and arts education.

Workshop in Art Studies - 15 ECTS (MKKSF4010)

Teaching semester:
Autumn (the course is offered next time autumn 2019).

The course lasts for 13 weeks (3 months). The teaching is organised in three sessions during the semester, each lasting a week.

Project in Child Culture and Arts Education with Workshops and Production - 20 ECTS (MKPRO5500)

Teaching semester:
Autumn (the course is offered next time autumn 2018).

The course lasts for 13 weeks (3 months). The teaching is organised in three sessions during the semester, each lasting a week.

Tuition fees

No fees for students from partner institutions. Fees for other students will apply, please contact the international coordinator for more information.
