Early Childhood Education and Care Leadership research group

Welcome to the ECEC Leadership research group at QMUC!

We are a research group on ECEC leadership, organization, governance, and leadership training for the ECEC sector from a wide range of perspectives.

There is great need for research about/with/on leadership in the ECEC field and our ambition is to produce research that is relevant for not only for the ECEC field but also for an audience outside the sector. The field of ECECs is developing rapidly and this has implications for leadership, which is itself a large and complex field of research.

We emphasize participation in various national and international research networks and play an active part in discussions with significance for the ECEC field. The group aim to promote good and relevant research for and together with the ECEC field.

The research group consists of staff at QMUC with different disciplinary backgrounds and staff positions.

Our research interests within the ECEC field are:

  • Leadership education in professional perspective
  • Leadership and supervision/guiding
  • Strategic leadership and Outward leadership
  • Relational perspectives
  • Political leadership in the sector and ownership
  • Sustainable leadership
  • Leadership of quality work, change and development in organisations
  • Pedagogical leadership
  • Value-conscious leadership
  • Post-humanist and more-than-human perspectives on leadership and organization
